here's my google search for "impact of open source software on government"

Corporate Darwinism

My belief is that the strongest corporations are those that provide the best value to their customers. In my POV (business background), there are three key things to consider when you evaluate your proposition for a new business, if your venture is technology-driven:

(watch video to see how it's done!)
1) Take advantage of what's out there and learn from other people's mistakes - This is more a matter of harnessing the ideology of opensource (from an organization standpoint to a software engineering standpoint).

2) Continuously re-assess your customer's needs and continuously evolve your business model around meeting those needs (ie: your business slogan could be, "how can I better meet those needs and future needs)

3) Do not get discouraged because your business model seems rebellious.

BELOW: On Kramer's show, Eric Schmidt (Goog CEO) hits on key points related to the economy, Googles market penetration, and Obama's national strategy. He also ties in how his corporation's acheivements can be harnessed by the US Gov't (and how they've missed obvious opportunities to do this).

I've begun blogging HR-XML

Alongside of the development of key XML technologies (standards, software & tools), the HR-XML Consortium has been refining the important standards that affect the businesses and BU's implementing HR solutions. I have been researching these technologies and the HR-XML's progress as they pertain to this aspect of the XML community's ongoing commitments. This blog is dedicated to communicating their progress in comprehensible terms, understandable to the educated layman and likewise beneficial to the programmers who are working on behalf of large corporations or towards implementing HR solutions for perhaps their own business.

Documented within this blog, there will be links to ongoing projects, with their results and/or effectiveness for realizing the desired goals stated for the project and illustrations of how implementations of the respective solutions are demonstrable; links to resources useful for understanding the core technologies that enable development and implementation of these solutions; a real-users' perspective and ongoing help as I try to grasp the importance and feasibility of incorporating these solutions to achieve conformance with the HR-XML Consortium' and W3C's recommendations.

Please check back often, subscribe to the RSS, and/or leave comments where appropriate, and I hope this blog will be of assistance :)
